Lets Go Fly a Kite.. Up to the Highest Height!

I flew a kite for the first time… kind of.

I went to a picnic with my brother and his friends in the Capitol Hill area of DC.

It was a gorgeous day… blue sky, light breeze, warm sun. The location was awesome… a small, green park in a neighborhood of dark red townhouses with pretty gardens in the front yards.

And we all brought yummy food, bubbles to blow… and, the best thing of all, KITES!!!

I was very excited but a little apprehensive. It wasn’t a very windy day and I’ve never flown a kite. I really have no clue how to fly a kite.

But sometimes ya just gotta run with it… so that’s exactly what I did. I held the kite in one hand and the string in the other. I started to run and tossed the kite up in the air. It stayed up there so I took that as a good sign.

I let some string out and ran around the little park. The kite fluttered in the air behind me and I giggled like a little girl. Yay for flying a kite!

But as soon as I got back to the picnic blanket and stopped running, the kite came tumbling down to the ground. But at least my brother didn't have any more luck than I did...

I don’t think running in circles with a kite flying in my wake is the correct way to fly a kite, but I’m counting it.

Fly a kite.

But kites are like dreams. Sometimes they can fly high with minimal effort, other times you have to run for dear life, and work really hard, to keep them afloat.

Wow.. that was really corny and not as deep as I had hoped lol.
